HENDERSON, KY - Jack W. Brock, 80, Henderson, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at Methodist Hospital.

Mr. Brock was a member of Countryview General Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran, earning a bronze star medal, a national defense medal, plus others. After his years of military service, he worked and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as an auto mechanic. He liked rabbit hunting with his friend C.D. Chandler, shooting pool, UK basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reid and Lizzie Mae Brock; one sister, Catherine Langley of West Columbia, S.C.; and two brothers, Calhoun Brock of Greenwood, S.C. and Eugene Brock of Carrollton, Ga.

Survivors include his wife Irene Brock; one daughter, Barbara Goben of Henderson; one son, Michael “Mike” Brock and his wife, Sandra, of Henderson; five sisters, Gladys McKittrick of Chappells, S.C., Alistine Buchanan of Augusta, Ga., Evelyn James and her husband, G.B., Hazel Kidd and her husband, Bryant, and Peggy Haynie and her husband, James, all of Greenwood, S.C.; one brother, James Brock and his companion, Brenda, of Ninety Six, S.C.; one grandson, Eric Somers and his wife, Stephanie, of Henderson; two step grandchildren, Shannon Fowler of Houston and Crystal Stewart of Morganfield; one great-granddaughter, Briana Somers of Henderson; two step great-granddaughters, Paige Stewart of Morganfield and Kalyn Tapp of Henderson; and one step great-grandson, Jarred McKee of Henderson; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. Brother Gary Ashby will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
