HENDERSON, KY- Donald Raymond Boom, 83, Henderson, passed away at 9 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at Methodist Hospital.

Mr. Boom was of the Catholic faith. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local No. 181. He was a U.S. World War II Navy veteran, a past member of Jerusaleum Lodge No. 9, Scottish Rite and Rizpah Shrine Temple.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Boom, who died in 1986; his parents, Albert and Nellie Boom; and a great-grandson, Keaton Mathis.

Survivors include his companion, Marie and her family of Palmyra, Ind.; three sons, David Boom of Jeffersonville, Ind., William Boom and his wife, Deborah, of Philpot, Ky., and Douglas Boom and his wife, Shauna, of Henderson; two daughters, Theresa Morris and Mary Walker, both of Henderson; two sisters, Donna Hoffecker of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Shirley Williams of Aurora, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, Leslie Phelps, Lindsey Newman, Richard Morris Jr., Jonathan Boom, Emily Boom, Brandon Boom, Kristin Boom, Rebecca Boom, Kyle Boom, Nathan Boom, Eric Walker, Sarah Varble and Kamden Shoff.; two step-grandchildren, Christopher Oliver and Jonathan Oliver; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.

Private graveside services will be held. Father Richard Powers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. July 28, 2010 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
