HENDERSON, KY - Barbara W. Hilyerd, age 73, of Henderson, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 after a long battle with Leukemia. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Henderson, Ky. She loved her church family and she always had a beautiful smile.

She was a graduate of Georgetown College (class of 1955) and held a Master of religious Education from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY. Mrs. Hilyerd is a former regent of the DAR Samuel Hopkins Chapter and also a current officer. She chose her profession to be that of a school teacher. She taught the elementary grades at Seventh Street School for many years until her retirement. She also taught at Hebbardsville School, Niagara School and substituted at many other schools.

Survivors include: Husband of 43 years: Bill Hilyerd Henderson, Ky., 1 Son: William A. Hilyerd and wife Cynthia Louisville, KY., 1 Brother: Thomas Westerfield Crofton, KY.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Reverend Tim Hobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Henderson, Ky.

Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, Ky.
