DAVIESS COUNTY, KY – The southbound lanes of the William Natcher Parkway were closed for over an hour Tuesday afternoon while the Kentucky State Police reconstructed a collision that claimed one life.
The KSP report that 81 year old Thomas Eversman of Jasper, IN was traveling northbound on the William Natcher Parkway, approximately 10 miles south of Owensboro, with his passenger 74 year old Mary W.Eversman, also of Jasper IN. Matt Peaugh, 34 years old of Radcliff, KY who was transporting aluminum ingots, was also on the William Natcher Parkway traveling southbound. For an unknown reason, Eversman lost control of his 2006 Buick and exited the northbound lane (entering the median). Eversman’s car then slid into the southbound lane where he struck Peaugh’s 1998 Kenworth. Eversman’s car was then redirected back into the median where it caught fire. Thomas Eversman was ejected from the car and was air lifted by PHI to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana where his condition is unknown. Mary W.Eversman, who remained in the vehicle, was pronounced dead on-scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office. Peaugh was not injured.
Assisting at the scene were Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, East Daviess County Fire Department, Daviess County Rescue, Yellow Ambulance, Daviess County Coroner’s Office and PHI.
